Geoelectrical method survey
The geoelectrical method is one of the main geophysical methods. Target of the method is to look at the geological structure of the Earth's interior according electrical properties (resistance).
Data is obtained by studying electric and electromagnetic fields
According to the method of creation, these fields can be:
- Natural
- Artificial (introducing electricity into the ground from batteries or generators)
The most important electrical properties of rocks:
- Specific electrical resistance
- Natural electric potential
- Polarization
Geoelectrical survey methods:
- Electrical resistivity methods (Electrical sounding (ES), electrical profiling (EP))
- Self-Potential method (SP)
- Induced Polarization method (IP)
